About “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”

Each year we work in conjunction with our brilliant corporate partners Walker Books to offer an exclusive book giveaway. It helps to highlight the importance of reading and how vital our work is to help open up a world of reading for everyone whether sighted, partially sighted or blind.

To launch this year’s title we are excited to announce that we have teamed up with the Daily Express newspaper and Morrisons stores to offer an exclusive in-store giveaway of “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”.

“We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”, seemingly based on a folk song passed around American camps, has remained popular with children and adults alike ever since its publication in 1989. Featuring beautiful illustrations from Helen Oxenbury – who has also previously illustrated “Alice Through the Looking Glass” and “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” – the book sees a group of adventurers journeying across grass, mud, water and other terrain in search of their elusive bear. The lyrical, multi-sensory style of story-telling is one of the many reasons that Michael Rosen has continued to captivate readers throughout his career.

Michael Rosen

Author Michael Rosen is popular with both adults and children alike and his work is full of wit, humour and engaging writing that is captivating for readers of all ages. Rosen was appointed as the sixth Children’s Laureate in June 2007 as recognition of his distinguished work in the field of literature. More recently Michael has been visiting schools and performing a “one-man poetry show” along with workshops for teachers on writing and reading.
